Systems Engineer II - Daejeon

Job Summary:

Helps to maintain, monitor, develop, and implement all technology needed to sustain and grow the business needs of the DCSD. Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems by following established security protocols and practices. Analyzes systems and keeps systems current with changing technologies. Installs new software, troubleshoots, grants permissions to applications, and trains users. Includes analysis, configuration, installations, upgrades, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, compiling, securing and repair of Linux servers. Performs system updates, makes recommendations on server configurations, and implements changes in multiple environments from test or development to production. Monitors and responds to alerts, customer reported issues, and escalates problems as required.

Responsibilities:

• Configure systems and equipment as directed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
• Document system design and procedures.
• Perform general systems maintenance tasks such as proactive review of logs and alerts, managing resource usage, troubleshooting routine automated maintenance and backup processes, applying patches, etc.
• Make sure that scheduled backups are running. 
• Add or remove resources to systems as needed to optimize virtual environments.
• Systems Administration of VMWare, Linux, Windows, and other Host OSs via CLI and UI.
• Respond to Help Desk incidents regarding end user problems associated with the systems. 
• OS updates and patching.
• Work closely with developers to tune the application stack and implement new technologies.
• Maintain the integrity and security of all Server, Storage, and Infrastructure.
• Replace defective hardware on servers as necessary.
• Monitor system logs and activity on all servers.
