    KN and third country citizen family members of US military and civilian employees of agency of United States whose duty station is in Korea, and all other KN external applicants who are not currently employed by USFK.

    Hauptaufgaben


    Serves as an Environmental Engineer in the Environmental Section, Geotechnical and Environmental Branch.

    Incumbent conducts and provides technical oversight of environmental investigations, studies, surveys, analyses, and related designs for United States military installations in Korea.

    Projects include soil and groundwater contamination studies, mitigation of leaking underground storage tanks, asbestos and lead-based paint building surveys and abatement, sampling and analysis of waste water and hazardous and toxic materials (e.g. solvents and PCBs), groundwater development and water well protection, and environmental compliance surveys. Reviews plans, designs, and specifications for the modification or improvement of existing facilities for technical adequacy.

    Duties include extensive field activities, project review and coordination meetings, monitoring of Army Engineer contract activities, and close liaison with other District offices and installation customers.

    Serves as technical lead in conducting environmental projects involving these types of issues and functions:

    ground contamination; sampling and laboratory chemical testing of soil, water, air, and hazardous materials; installation of groundwater monitoring wells; field instrumentation for monitoring environmental conditions; developing appropriate remedial design measures; and performance monitoring during site restoration.

    Develops plans for exploration, site monitoring, and laboratory analyses based on project data requirements and available funding. Participates in field investigations and material sampling with in-house staff. Monitors work performed by supporting AE contractors. Analyzes project results, and provides professional oral briefings and written reports in English to document investigation findings and recommendations. Performs other duties as assigned.

    BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

    Applicants must have completed a full 4-year course of study in a ROKG authorized or recognized college or university in the field of engineering related to the job for which being considered, or possess class I professional engineer license in the field related to the job for which being considered.
