    Position overview

    The candidate is expected to have fluent English and Korean language skills and be interested in research on sustainability and investment themes. The person will mainly work with Python/Excel to help the team automate data collection, analysis generation using information about companies' environmental, social, and governance performances, as well as traditional financial risk, using a variety of sources.

    Over the course of the internship, the intern will be assigned to tasks to assist senior analytical staff to conduct research on companies, industries, themes. Depending on the intern's subject matter interests and background, the person will also be assigned to one or more major or standalone research projects, similar to the following examples:

    Sustainability trends in Korea market related to climate change, health & safety and labor rights, and governance

    Financial industries: information gathering on loan exposure susceptible to climate change/biodiversity impact of major financial institutions in the local market

    Retail industries: information gathering and benchmarking on private label products, raw material usage

    This exciting role provides the very opportunity to be involved in the integration of sustainability themes into investment research. We are offering a 6 months internship that commence as early as possible, with exact timing and length being negotiable

    Your key responsibilities

    · Searching for, procuring, and processing information about large publicly listed companies using multiple methods, techniques and sources, with a focus in Asia

    · Helping senior analytical staff to find alt data, and conduct deep dive analysis using Python

    · Working with different data types (e.g., lengthy annual reports, websites, quantitative data feeds, web crawlers), types of information (e.g., quantitative data, key performance indicators, prose narratives), topics or subject matters (e.g., traditional financial risk, corporate governance, sustainability), and types of analysis (e.g., rule-based, subjective analysis, written summaries)

    · Provide research support to senior analytical staff

    · Present research findings to relevant internal stakeholders

    · Ownership and management of one or two defined research tasks that contribute to the team's methodology development and/or information source management

    Specific knowledge and skills

    Strong background in data analysis

    Proficiency in Python is a must

    Proficiency in QGIS is a plus

    Desired experience

    · Previous internship experience in the sustainability field is preferred but not required

    · Relevent experience in financial market that includes exposure to sustainability investment

    · Candidates must be eligible to work in Seoul

    Desired qualifications

    · Ability to multi-task and efficiently present research results to internal groups

    · Can work under pressure of deadlines and deliver work product on time

    · Efficient team player who communicates effectively and who can also work independently without constant supervision

    · Advanced degree in economics or finance is preferred but not required
