Job summary

Provide live piano accompaniment for Sunday worship services, Holy Days, and special services such as weddings and funerals.

Responsibilities

• Provide live piano accompaniment for Sunday worship services, Holy Days, and special services such as weddings and funerals
• Collaborate with choir directors, music leaders, and chaplains to select and perform appropriate worship music
• Play prelude, postlude, congregational responses, solos, offertories, and background music as needed
• Attend and participate in rehearsals and preparation sessions before services
• Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while interacting with chapel staff, volunteers, and congregation members
• Ensure the choir and performance area is clean and organized after each service
• Follow base procedures regarding the use and care of chapel instruments and equipment

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of experience playing piano or keyboard, with strong accompaniment skills and the ability to play by ear
• At least two years of experience as an accompanist in a church setting (military chapel experience preferred)
• Proficiency in both Catholic and Contemporary worship music styles and ability to blend them harmoniously
• Ability to sight-read sheet music and perform well in an audition
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a diverse worship environment
• A letter of recommendation from an ordained clergy member attesting to musical ability and character
• Additional letters of recommendation attesting to moral and ethical character are encouraged
• Must be able to speak and read English fluently
