Kwangtae Kim

I am a software engineer, specialized in Python and Javascript (Typescript).

I have passion in problem solving and providing impact to both the company I work for and customers I serve.

I have a 2.8 years work experience as a Global Sales Associate in Hyosung Heavy Industries, 0.5 years work experience as a Backend Contents Developer in Elice Inc, and finally 0.2 years work experience as a CEO in Doctor Gold Co., Ltd.

I started my career as a software engineer in 2018. I was an intern researcher in Biomechanics Lab of Mechanical Engeering department in Sogang University. I built a healthcare robot, which autonomously rotates 360 degrees with robotic arm and sensors and scans thigh muscles to construct 3d volume image. I had designed hardware architecture with CAD and SOLIDWORKS, as well as software with C++. I found my passion in software development, as I was the one staying in laboratory the longest hours, longer than Ph.D candidates, and was spending my own money of USD 5,000 to fund the project. After successfully completing the project within lead time, I received offers from 2 professors for graduate school.

From Jan 2019 to Aug 2021, I worked as a global sales associate and IT Infrastructure Developer. At first, since I was fluent in both English and Japansese, I had a role in Business-to-Business sales to plant construction companies abroad. However, as I was more interested in the role of developer, I decided to also join Sales Automation Task Force team in Jun 2019, developing IT infrastructure to automate sales process. With my passion in developing software and problem solving, I decided to pivot my career into full time software enginner, which led me to attend a coding bootcamp from Sep 2021 to Dec 2021, learning application development using Javascript and Python. 

From Jan to Jun in 2022, I worked as a lead lecturer for a coding bootcamp in Elice Inc, in charge of educating 300+ students about backend technologies with Javascript, Typescript and Python. I provided or developed lectures, problems (all with autonomous grading and tests), best-practice application examples to help my students learn as much as possible from me. Besides the education, I built 10+ automation programs in Python to help my team and company reduce outsourcing cost and development time.

Recently, from Aug to Sep in 2022, I worked as a CEO of Doctor Gold Co., Ltd. I developed a jewelry exchange platform to solve the problem of the current person-to-person transaction in jewelry industry and help wholesale and retail sellers reduce cost and time. I used Typescript for both web and mobile application in order to reduce development cost, and built asynchronous architecture with Devops to enhance performance to users and automate development process.
