Leatrice Hockenbury

Since my early childhood, I have had an innate ability to reach others and gain their undivided attention.   I am a very outgoing,  enthusiastic,  and tenacious individual who loves humanity in all its diversity and loves to share my knowledge and experience.  I have a very eclectic background filled with many exciting opportunities in serving those in my community and beyond.  Education was always approached as an adventure and a very necessary aspect of a full and happy existence.   I have had the opportunity to work in the medical field and in the field of psychology,among others, and I strongly feel that sharing with and serving others is as much a part of me as breathing.   My husband and I are both Substance Use Disorder Counselors who have raised 7 beautiful people and we now desire to utilize our skills abroad teaching others a new language, thus opening doors to the world for them that are beyond measure.

I have a very eclectic background filled with serving and teaching others. I was employed for 17 years at Red Rock Canyon School from 1999 to 2016. Red Rock was a residential treatment facility for youth ages 12 to 18. During my years at Red Rock, I held several positions. I worked in marketing and business development, case management, as the Academic Advisor (teacher) for 15 students, Parent Liaison, and as the director of the Transitional Living program where I taught students life skills in preparation to live in the world as productive adults . More recently, I have been employed as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor working with adults in recovery. In this position, I have had to develop curriculum and teach psychoeducational group therapy sessions. There are between 10 and 12 clients on my caseload at any given time.

I have 2 lessons/modules left and I will receive my 120 hour advanced certification in   TEFL/TESOL

• Extensive training received regarding curriculum planning and designing and implementing a treatment plan through many conferences, seminars, workshops, and my 150 college credit hours in many diverse subjects. I obtained my credits from Dixie State University in St. George, Utah, Weber State University in Ogden, Utah
